Branson Leisure restored the hardwood slats for these listed Camel benches which can be found on Victoria Embankment. Most people believe they are there as part of the Cleopatraβs Needle display, but there is the possibility that later additions are to support the Imperial Camel Corp commemoration that stands in Embankment Gardens, unveiled in 1916. Branson Leisure replacement of garden bench slats for these benches, originally produced in the 1870s and they are now a listed feature on the Victoria Embankment.
Of the original 10 benches, nine remain, but were badly in need of restoration. The slats were repaired where necessary or where they were missing, replaced with sustainably grown Iroko hardwood. The castings were cleaned and all slats tightened after being treated with a teak colour water repellent.
